MARS TO TAKE WEEKEND OFF FOLLOWING KNOXVILLE

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model team ventured south to the infamous Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa last weekend. The 6th Annual 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals was scheduled to take place from October 1-3, but Mother Nature had an entirely different plan. After three straight rain-outs, a one-day, $40,000 to win show was held at the 1/2-mile oval on Sunday afternoon, October 4.

During qualifying for the 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals,' Jimmy posted the fourth quickest lap around the Marion County facility. After finishing fifth in his competitive heat race, the Menomonie, Wisconsin native lined up fourth on the starting grid in the 100-lap main event. In front of the SPEED Channel cameras, Jimmy worked his way up to the second spot and was battling Scott Bloomquist for the lead on lap 82 when terminal engine problems sent him pitside. He wound up a disappointing nineteenth in the final version of this year's 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals.' You can view complete results online at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.

The Mars Racing team has elected to take the October 9-10 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition, but they are actively prepping their equipment for the upcoming 'Dirt Track World Championship.' The prestigious crown jewel event will take place over the October 16-17 weekend at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The winner of the 100-lap main event next Saturday night will receive a cool $50,000 payday.
