JIMMY MARS THIRD IN TOPLESS
100 AT BATESVILLE!
Posted August 20, 2009
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team, fresh off back-to-back
$50,000 'USA Nationals' and 'North/South 100' victories, invaded
the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas last
weekend (August 14-15) for the 17th Annual 'Topless 100.'
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the crown
jewel event, which boasted a hefty $40,000 payday. The cameras
of the SPEED Channel were on hand at Batesville to tape all
of the wheel-to-wheel action for broadcast later in the year.
Jimmy Mars kicked off the weekend by laying down the third
quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session on Friday
night and finishing second in heat race action. The Menomonie,
Wisconsin native then started from the outside of the sixth
row in the 100-lap main event on Saturday evening. Jimmy did
not stay mid-pack for long, as he quickly worked his way up
to the third spot in the first ten laps. He got up to as high
as second in the running order during the course of the 'Topless
100' and settled for a strong third place performance behind
winner Jimmy Owens and runner-up Scott Bloomquist. You can
view complete results from Batesville by logging onto www.dirtondirt.com.
Up next for the #28 team will be the 'Buckeye 100' at the
K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio this weekend. The World of
Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction the two-day show on
Friday and Saturday, August 21-22. Qualifying and heat race
action will take place on Friday night, while the consolation
races and the $20,000 to win main event will headline the
weekend on Saturday evening. You can access additional information
