JIMMY MARS CONTINUES HOT STREAK AT LERNERVILLE!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team reached victory lane for the ninth time in 2009 in thrilling fashion over the weekend at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania! The World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned the annual running of the 'Firecracker 100' on Friday and Saturday, June 26-27 and over sixty drivers from across the country were on hand to vie for the $30,000 top prize. On Friday night, Jimmy Mars timed in thirtieth fastest during WOOLMS qualifying and later earned the third and final transfer spot in his competitive heat race.

When the dirt-slinging action resumed on Saturday evening, Jimmy rolled off from the outside of the ninth row in the 100-lap 'Firecracker 100.' He was already up to the eighth position on lap 27 when contact from another competitor flattened his left rear tire. After quick service from his crew in the pits, Jimmy returned to the track at the tail end of the field.

The Menomonie, Wisconsin native then methodically picked off car after car on his way to the front of the field and eventually grabbed the top spot on lap 94 from leader Darrell Lanigan. Jimmy went on to lead the final six circuits en route to his first career World of Outlaws Late Model Series triumph and the $30,950 (including bonus money) payday over Darrell Lanigan, Earl Pearson, Jr., Brady Smith, and Steve Francis. "I was pretty steamed following that flat tire, but I was able to settle down and the car just kept getting better and better," quoted Mars this week. "To win the Firecracker 100 means an awful lot, but to win it the way we did is pretty special. I can't say enough about my brother Chris (Mars), the entire team, and all of our great sponsors. Everything is clicking right now at some of these bigger shows, so hopefully that will continue throughout the season!"
