MARS LOOKS TO TURN LUCK AROUND
THIS WEEKEND!
Posted May 8, 2008
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team invaded the Show-Me
State of Missouri last weekend to compete in a pair of World
of Outlaws Late Model Series shows. First up was the I-44
Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri, as the ultra-fast speedplant
played host to a $10,000 to win event on Saturday night, May
3. Jimmy Mars was twenty-seventh fastest in qualifying and
later shredded a tire in his heat race, which severely damaged
the body of his #28 entry. After receiving a World of Outlaws
Late Model Series provisional to gain access into the 40-lapper,
Jimmy made a few laps around the track and retired with a
twenty-sixth place finish.
The #28 team was looking for bigger and better things the
following night at the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri,
as a $7,000 top prize was up for grabs on Sunday evening,
May 4. Jimmy was thirteenth quickest in WOOLMS time trials
before finishing fifth in his competitive heat race. Following
a third place effort in the B-Main, the Menomonie, Wisconsin
native rolled off twenty-first for the 40-lap feature event.
After trying some different things on his racecar for the
A-Main, Jimmy brought home a nineteenth place performance
at Monett. You can view complete results from the weekend

"About everything that could have happened to us last
weekend, did happen to us," quoted Mars earlier in the
week. "It was disappointing, but we will put things behind
us and turn our focus to Wheatland this weekend. This new
car has been pretty fast, but unfortunately we just haven't
really had a chance to show it. The Diamond Nationals this
weekend would be a perfect opportunity to show it off!"
Jimmy and his #28 team will look to turn their recent fortunes
in the state of Missouri around this weekend. The 2nd Annual
'SuperClean Diamond Nationals' will take place this upcoming
weekend at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the O'Reilly MLRA
Series will co-sanction the mega-event, which boasts a $40,000
top prize.
Qualifying will kick things off on Friday night, May 9 at
the state-of-the-art speedplant. A complete lineup of heat
races, consolation events, and the 100-lap 'SuperClean Diamond
Nationals' will then headline the program on Saturday, May
10. The cameras of the SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape
all of the exciting action for broadcast later in the year.
