JIMMY MARS WINS AT BEDFORD;
TRIP TO IOWA NEXT!
Posted April 30, 2009
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model
team trekked east last weekend for a pair of $10,000 to win
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series races and they made the long
trip pay off to the tune of a victory and a runner-up performance!
On Friday night, April 24, the Mars Racing team was in action
for the first time at the Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania.
Jimmy won his heat race and later drew the outside of the
front row for the 50-lap main event. The Menomonie, Wisconsin
native took the point at the drop of the green flag and never
looked back en route to his first triumph of the 2009 season.
Jimmy reached victory lane after crossing the checkers first
ahead of M-B Customs teammate Brian Birkhofer, Billy Moyer,
Rick Eckert, and Josh Richards.
The action quickly turned to the historic Hagerstown Speedway
in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday evening, April 25 for
another $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.
Jimmy once again won his heat race at Hagerstown and started
third in the 50-lap feature event. The driver known as the
"Iceman" found himself inside of the top five throughout
the 'Stanley Schetrompf Classic' before rallying to a runner-up
finish behind winner Tim Fuller. You can view complete results
from the doubleheader weekend online at www.lucasdirt.com.
"It was a great weekend for Mars Racing and a good measuring
stick of where our program is at this time of year,"
exclaimed Mars via telephone earlier in the week. "The
competition level out at Bedford and Hagerstown was unbelievable,
so to run first and second makes me excited about the rest
of the year. We had a new Pro Power motor in the car and it
worked flawlessly, as did our M-B Customs racecar. I just
have to thank everyone associated with my program right now
for all of their support and hopefully the Bedford win is
the first of many this season!"
The Mars Racing team will now turn their focus to a pair
of unsanctioned events in the Hawkeye State of Iowa this upcoming
weekend. The Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa will be the track
of choice on Friday night, May 1, while the dirt-slinging
competition will switch to the West Liberty Raceway in West
Liberty, Iowa on Saturday evening, May 2. Both races will
pay $10,000 to the winner. To learn additional information
