(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team has chosen to
take the April 25-26 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition.
The #28 team will next travel to the Show-Me State of Missouri
on May 3-4 for a pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series
shows. The I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri will play host
to a $10,000 to win event on Saturday night, May 3, while
the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri will pay $7,000 to
the winner on Sunday evening, May 4. You can view more information
about the WOOLMS doubleheader weekend to kick off the month
of May online at www.worldofoutlaws.com.
Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model team competed in a
pair of high-profile events last week in Iowa and North Carolina.
First up for the Mars Racing team was a $5,000 to win PolyDome
World Dirt Racing League (WDRL) Series show on Wednesday,
April 16 at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa. Jimmy
won his heat race prior to finishing second in the dash. After
starting from the outside of the front row for the 40-lap
A-Main, Jimmy wound up a solid third in the final rundown
behind winner Darren Miller and runner-up Brian Birkhofer.
The action then turned south to the pristine Dirt Track at
the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on April
18-19. Jimmy timed in eleventh quickest in World of Outlaws
Late Model Series qualifying on Friday night and later finished
second in his heat race. After drawing a twenty-two prior
to the start of the $50,000 to win 'Colossal 100' on Saturday,
Jimmy rolled off from the outside of the eleventh row for
the 100-lapper. The Menomonie, Wisconsin native kept his nose
clean at the start of the race and was moving up through the
stout field. However, a broken fuel pump ended his night prematurely
and he was relegated to a thirty-second place performance.
