MARS LANDS TOP FIVE IN ILLINI
100!
Posted April 10, 2009
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model
team invaded the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois
on April 3-4 for the 2nd Annual 'Illini 100.' The World of
Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned the two-day spectacular,
which boasted a $20,000 top prize.
During preliminary action on Friday night, Jimmy timed his
#28 entry in third quickest in WOOLMS qualifying and later
won his heat race in decisive fashion. After drawing the third
starting spot for the 100-lapper on Saturday, the Menomonie,
Wisconsin native had his sights set on reaching victory lane
at the historic fairgrounds venue. Jimmy ran inside of the
top five throughout the 'Illini 100' and eventually wound
up in the fourth position behind winner Shane Clanton, Brian
Birkhofer, and Josh Richards. You can view complete results
from Farmer City by accessing www.worldofoutlaws.com.
The Mars Racing team had planned to travel to the Tri-City
(IL) Speedway on April 10 and the Florence (KY) Speedway on
April 11, but the rain-out earlier today of the $10,000 to
win 'Frostbuster 50' at Tri-City has scrapped those plans.
They will instead take the upcoming weekend off from Dirt
Late Model competition. Keep up with the ever-changing schedule
plans for the team online at www.jimmymarsracing.com.
