JIMMY MARS TO TAKE WEEKEND
OFF AFTER PIKE COUNTY...
Posted April 2, 2008
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 Dirt Late Model
team trekked south to the Pike County Speedway in Magnolia,
Mississippi on Friday and Saturday, March 28-29 for the inaugural
running of the 'March Through Dixie 100.' The World of Outlaws
Late Model Series sanctioned the two-day show, which was highlighted
by a $20,000 to win feature event on Saturday evening.
Jimmy timed in fourth quickest in WOOLMS qualifying on Friday
night, March 28 before driving his #28 entry to a fourth place
finish in his competitive heat race. His top-four effort on
Friday was good enough to transfer him into the 100-lap A-Main
on Saturday. After rolling off from the outside of the eighth
row for the 'March Through Dixie 100,' the Menomonie, Wisconsin
native finished all 100 racing laps around the southern Mississippi
speedplant and wound up fifteenth in the final rundown. You

"We debuted a new car over the weekend at Pike County
and I was pretty pleased with how it performed," commented
Mars this week. "The car was great during qualifying
on Friday night, but we just chose the wrong tire combination
for the heat race. That put us starting sixteenth in the feature
on Saturday on a track where passing was at a premium."
The Mars Racing team will take the upcoming weekend, April
4-5, off from Dirt Late Model competition. Their next scheduled
event is Friday night, April 11 at the Davenport Speedway
in Davenport, Iowa. Below is the upcoming racing schedule
for the #28 team.
