JIMMY MARS SET FOR WEEKEND
OFF FOLLOWING TEXAS

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team recently completed
their southern swing with the World of Outlaws Late Model
Series on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21 at the Battleground
Speedway in Highlands, Texas. The two-day 'Lone Star 100'
was on tap at the Houston area venue and a $20,000 top prize
was on the line. Jimmy Mars was strong during preliminary
night on Friday, as he timed in sixth quickest in WOOLMS qualifying
prior to running second in his competitive heat race.
When the action resumed on Saturday evening, Jimmy drew the
outside front row starting spot for the 100-lap 'Lone Star
100.' In front of a near capacity crowd, the Menomonie, Wisconsin
driver paced the stout field for the first thirty-five circuits
of the race. Even after Darrell Lanigan passed him for the
point, Jimmy was still going to be a factor until a broken
spring strip in the right-front corner of his #28 machine
left him unable to turn effectively, forcing him to retire
on lap 65 after losing third place to Josh Richards. He wound
up credited with a disappointing sixteenth place performance.

The #28 team will take the upcoming March 27-28 weekend off
from Dirt Late Model competition. They will next be in action
on April 3-4 at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction the 2nd
Annual 'Illini 100' next weekend and a $20,000 winner's check
