MARS CONCLUDES 'WWS' WITH PAIR
OF TOP FIVES!!!
Posted January 21, 2008
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) After opening up the 'Wild West Shootout'
with two victories last weekend, Jimmy Mars returned to the
Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Arizona on January
19 and 20 looking for additional success. On Saturday, January
19, Jimmy finished fourth in his heat race, but later won
his B-Main to advance to the $3,000 to win feature event.
After starting fourteenth on the grid, the Menomonie, Wisconsin
native was able to get by ten cars en route to a fourth place
performance behind winner John Anderson, Terry Phillips, and
Brad Looney.
The 'Wild West Shootout' action concluded at C.A.R. on Sunday,
January 20 with a $7,500 to win finale. Jimmy ran second in
his heat race and later rolled off from the inside of the
second row for the 50-lap A-Main. He was able to forge out
front during the course of the race, but was passed on a lap
forty-six restart and settled for a strong runner-up performance
to winner John Anderson. You can view complete results from

"We had another pretty good weekend out west,"
commented Mars, who once again drove a #H2 MasterSbilt from
Mars machine owned by Jess Anderson at the Central Arizona
Raceway. "The car was actually capable of winning both
nights I think, but extenuating circumstances kept that from
happening. On Saturday, I was able to move up through the
field, but unfortunately made some contact with Jack (Sullivan),
which smashed up our front end pretty good. Then on Sunday,
I was leading feature and hit a rut, which led to a bent suspension
piece. I knew I was a sitting duck on that last restart and
(John) Anderson took advantage, so congratulations go out
to him."
Jimmy is now back in Wisconsin and will turn his focus back
to building cars. Before he breaks out his own equipment in
late March, Jimmy is slated to travel to the Las Vegas Motor
Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 28-29. The Western
Allstars Series will host a pair of $3,000 to win shows in
"Sin City." The driver known as the "Iceman"
is the defending champion of these races and will once again
pilot a Jess Anderson-owned car during his stint in Vegas.
More information concerning these events will be made available
as the dates near.
