MARS
LIFTS LID TO 2022 SEASON IN FLORIDA!
(January
20, 2022) Fresh off an eight win season in 2021, Jimmy
Mars and his Mars Racing team have made the long trek south to Florida
to begin their 2022 campaign. Jimmy will start his racing season
later tonight, January 20 during the opening show of the three-day
‘Sunshine Nationals’ at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville,
Florida. This is the first time since 2013 that the Menomonie, Wisconsin
Hall of Famer has turned a wheel at the famed Daytona Beach-area
speedplant. (Dirtman Photography)
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction the 3rd edition
of the ‘Sunshine Nationals,’ which kicks off tonight
with a $10,000 to win shootout. Jimmy will also compete at VSP in
similar $10,000 to win programs on Friday and Saturday to round
out the tripleheader weekend. In an open practice session held last
night at Volusia Speedway Park, Jimmy laid down the fifth quickest
time overall of the 37 competitors that recorded a lap around the
1/2-mile oval.
Once the ‘Sunshine Nationals’ has concluded, the #28
team has plans of returning home for a couple of weeks before making
their way back to Volusia in February for the annual running of
the ‘DIRTcar Nationals.’ Six straight nights of ground-pounding
Super Late Model action is scheduled at the “World’s
Fastest Half-Mile” from February 14-19. If you can’t
make it to sunny Florida, all of the action from both the ‘Sunshine
Nationals’ and the ‘DIRTcar Nationals’ will be
broadcast LIVE to subscribers on DIRTVision.
