MARS SWEEPS OPENING WEEKEND
OF 'WILD WEST SHOOTOUT'
Posted January 14, 2008
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars wrapped up his 2007 season
with big wins at the Pike County (MS) Speedway and the Las
Vegas (NV) Motor Speedway and the momentum has not stopped
heading into 2008. Jimmy traveled to the Central Arizona Raceway
in Casa Grande, Arizona over the weekend and reached victory
lane in the first two events of his season. Aboard the Jess
Anderson owned #H2 MasterSbilt from Mars machine, which carried
sponsorship from ESSI, Inc., Dagwood Graphics, Deppe Enterprises,
and Jimmy's Pub, the Menomonie, Wisconsin native swept the
weekend to record $8,000 in winnings.
The 'Wild West Shootout' kicked off at C.A.R. on Saturday,
January 12 with a $3,000 to win show for the Dirt Late Models.
Jimmy finished second to Jack Sullivan in his heat race and
later rolled off from the outside of the third row for the
30-lap A-Main. The driver known as the "Iceman"
drove by the top five cars and took the lead from Trevor Glaser
around the halfway point to take the top spot. He then held
off fellow MasterSbilt from Mars driver Pat Doar, Glaser,
Ron Bartels, and Brad Looney to pick up the $3,000 payday.
The action returned to the central Arizona speedplant on
Sunday, January 13 for a $5,000 to win event. Jimmy won his
heat race, but limped to the checkers with a damaged powerplant.
After extensive work installing a new motor in his #H2 entry
prior to the feature event, Jimmy led flag-to-flag in the
35-lap affair to register his second straight win over Terry
Phillips, Jack Sullivan, Trevor Glaser, and Brad Looney. You

"It feels great to start off the year with two exceptional
runs at Casa Grande," stated Mars today following a flight
back to Wisconsin. "The car worked excellent all weekend
and it was especially strong in the slick. The only thing
that didn't go our way was the motor problem we had at the
end of the heat race on Sunday, but we rebounded with the
new motor and won the race. I have to thank Jess (Anderson)
and everybody that works so hard on the car and I can't wait
to get back out there again next weekend and try to duplicate
our performances!"
Because of work commitments back at the shop, Jimmy will
forego the Wednesday, January 16 'Wild West Shootout' event
at the Central Arizona Raceway. Instead, he will fly back
out west for the final two shows on Saturday and Sunday, January
19-20. A $3,000 top prize is up for grabs in Saturday's race,
while a $7,500 to win finale is planned for Sunday. You can
